Sharing Information I got from Travis AFB on 3/11/2020

Due to the sustained transmission of Coronavirus (COVID-19) in the surrounding community and in support of the public health emergency declared for Travis AFB on 27 Feb 2020, the base  has implemented  Health Protection Condition (HPCON) to Bravo  effective today to protect Team Travis’ health and safety. This is a moderate health alert in response to public health risks in the local community .  There are currently no confirmed COVID-19 cases at Travis AFB. The decision to elevate the HPCON is independent of quarantine operations currently taking place on Travis AFB, and directly correlates to the evolving situation in the local area.

With the local developments surrounding the Coronavirus, we want to reassure our Team Travis community that we are monitoring the situation and closely engaged with Solano County Public Health and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention officials.

What does this mean for Team Travis Airmen and families?

·         HPCON BRAVO drives changes for social interactions and gatherings.

·         Practice social distancing and refrain from physical contact such as hand shaking, fist bumps, etc.

·         All on-base, large gatherings (defined as more than 100 people) are cancelled from now through April 30, 2020, unless they are mission-essential as directed by your unit commander.

·         If you are unsure whether or not an event or recurring gathering has been cancelled, please contact the event coordinator for an update. 

·         While this measure may seem drastic, it will help to mitigate potential community spreading on base.

·         Continue standard precautions to stop the spread of germs and prevent respiratory illnesses like COVID-19:

·         Wash hands with liquid soap and water and rub for at least 20 seconds;

·         Wipe common-use items with disinfectant;

·         Cover your mouth and nose with a tissue or your sleeve (not your hands) when coughing or sneezing;

·         Stay home if you are sick; and

·         Get a flu shot to protect yourself and others from flu, which has similar symptoms to COVID-19. 

·         The Travis Unified School District (TUSD) will make decisions regarding on base schools independent of this direction.

·         On base Child Care Facilities will remain open at this time.

·         Follow State Department and Geographic Combatant Command guidance in regards to travel restrictions.

·         Continue to communicate with your chain of command.

·         If you develop flu-like symptoms with fever and cough or shortness of breath and may have had contact with a person who has COVID-19 or had recent travel to countries considered high-risk, contact your health care provider before seeking medical care to prevent possible transmission in the health care setting. If you are normally seen at David Grant USAF Medical Center, please first call the TRICARE nurse advice line at 1-800-874-2273 or the DGMC appointment line at 707-423-3000 prior to the visit.
